10 May 2011

OU KOSHER PRESENTS “A NIGHT OF KASHRUS” FOR ELIZABETH JEWISH COMMUNITY WITH HANDS-ON PRESENTATIONS OF BIRDS AND BUGS, MAY 15

OU Kosher is bringing a hands-on learning experience to the Jewish community of Elizabeth when it presents “A Night of Kashrus” in conjunction with the Vaad HaRabbonim of Greater Elizabeth, JEC Beit HaKnesset Adat Yisrael, JEC Elmora Avenue Shul and the Elmora Hills Minyan. Sponsored in memory of Mr. Albert Kronmen, a”h, the event will begin at 7:55 p.m. following mincha on Sunday, May 15 at the JEC Monroe Levy Auditorium, 330 Elmora Avenue.

The Elizabeth program is part of the Harry H. Beren Ask OU Outreach initiative, which is sponsored by the Harry H. Beren Foundation of Lakewood, NJ.

Featured presentations will be given by Rabbi Chaim Loike, OU Rabbinic Coordinator and an expert on birds and eggs, who will discuss, “Can I Eat That?” with the assistance of feathered friends.

Rabbi Yosef Eisen, Rabbinic Administrator of the Vaad HaKashrus of the Five Towns and Rockaways, who is a former OU Rabbinic Coordinator for Food Service and expert in Bedikas Tolaim will present a live demonstration on “How to Check Fruits and Vegetables.”

According to Rabbi Yosef Grossman, Director of OU Kosher Education, “I think Rabbi Yosef Eisen put it best when he remarked to me in a recent conversation that the ASK OU OUTREACH program in Elizabeth is the first time this important kashrus seminar will be made to an entire community kehilah as indicated by the united sponsorship and representation of the various Orthodox synagogues there.”
