OU Job Board Online Program Reducing Student Debt 10/22

11 Oct 2013

OU JOB BOARD TO PRESENT ‘REDUCING STUDENT DEBT PAYMENTS,’ ON-LINE AND AT OU, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 5:30-6:30 P.M. WITH DAVID SIEGEL OF CITIBANK

Student debt got you down?

Wondering why you even bothered going to college since it will be years before you pay down the debt you incurred getting your education, and are now facing years of struggle to make ends meet?

Help is on the way.

The Orthodox Union Job Board will present a free seminar, Reducing Student Debt Payments, with David Siegel of Citibank, on Tuesday, October 22 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at OU Headquarters, 11 Broadway. The program will also be seen on-line at http://www.eventzilla.net/web/event?eventid=2139008534.

David Siegel is a Home Lending Specialist at Citibank, working with residential mortgages. He previously worked as a bankruptcy attorney and helped clients with mortgage, consumer, and student debt-related issues.

“For people who are still going through severe economic times but who also have obligations to their community schools, this program affords a great opportunity to get government help and assistance,” said Michael Rosner, director of the Job Board. “With tuition costs far exceeding affordability by the average employee, this may be an answer for those who need immediate help. This seminar will be an in-depth discussion of the government program for lower mid-income families.”

The program will discuss several federal programs that let the borrower reduce monthly payments and discharge remaining debt after a set period of time. This includes the Department of Education’s recently introduced Income Based Repayment Program (IBR), which lets you calculate your monthly payments based on income and household size, regardless of the amount of debt.

Another program, Pay as Your Earn, cuts payments by a third; a companion program allows the borrower to discharge any remaining debt after a set minimum of qualified payments. Public service employees (teachers, nurses, policemen, municipal workers, etc.) can be eligible for this discharge after as little as 120 payments, or ten years.

You must register to join this class live or on-line. To register please follow this link: http://www.eventzilla.net/web/event?eventid=2139008534. A donation of $5 or more would be appreciated. The donation is made online.
