YOU CAN COUNT ON IT: ORTHODOX UNION JOB BOARD NETWORKING EVENT FOR ACCOUNTANTS SET FOR APRIL 25 FROM 5:30-7:30 P.M. IN MANHATTAN; FULL HOUSE EXPECTED

Now that tax season is over and accountants can take a deep breath and think of things other than Form 1040, theOU Job Board | Employment and Resumé Opportunities will hold a networking event for experienced accountants or those just starting out. It will be held on Thursday, April 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at OU headquarters, 11 Broadway in Manhattan ($10 to pre-register, $25 at the door).

The networking program for accountants follows two similar OU Job Board events for attorneys – both of which drew capacity audiences.

“The accountants networking night will be a gathering of practitioners from the Tri-State area, either working or just entering the field,” explained Michael Rosner, international director of the OU Job Board. “During the course of the evening accountants will be present representing top firms, who will lend advice to those looking to expand their contacts or looking for information as to how to get a position. Like the networking program for lawyers, there will be a brief introduction about some key points in the industry followed by a round-robin type of networking, in which participants will introduce each other and talk about experiences they have had in the profession.”

“To further enhance this program, a team of accountants will position themselves throughout the room to give advice, mentorship and ideas for those who have questions about the field, certain firms, advancement, etc.,” Mr. Rosner continued. “This is the best way I can think of for accountants to understand the current playing field. They will be introduced to both large and small firms, public and private, so they can discover the career path they may want to go on or a new path they may want to try. This is an exciting event and we are anticipating a full house, just as with the attorneys.”

According to Mr. Rosner, the panel of experts is in formation.
