OU KOSHER LEADERSHIP AND ACCO’S MAYOR VISIT OU ISRAEL’S ORAITA PROGRAM FOR TEENS

OU Israel’s Jack E. Gindi Oraita program in Acco had some high-level visitors in the past week, as the city’s mayor, Shimon Lankri, and the two leaders of OU Kosher, Rabbi Menachem Genack, Chief Executive Officer, and Rabbi Moshe Elefant, Chief Operating Officer, stopped by to observe the activities.

Oraita is a program enabling Israeli teens at risk with little background in Judaism to become acquainted with their Jewish heritage through study of Jewish sources – interspersed with athletic activities.

Oraita was started four years ago in Acco and today has eight branches spread across Israel. In Acco more than 250 teens participate weekly in activities and have developed a personal relationship with their well-trained advisors. Oraita is one of seven programs the OU runs in Israel on an ongoing basis.
