9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Congregation Adas Israel
565 Broadway, Passaic, N.J.

To address the concerns of parents regarding their children and the safety of the Internet, the Orthodox Union will present a Positive Jewish Parenting program in conjunction with The Youth Education Committee of Congregation Adas Israel in Passaic and Jewish Family Service of Passaic-Clifton.

It will take place on Sunday, May 7 at the synagogue, 565 Broadway from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be served.

The featured speaker, Philip Rosenthal, will discuss Raising Children in a Secular Society: Controlling the Internet Before it Controls Us. Mr. Rosenthal has spoken extensively around the world regarding obsessive computer behavior, computer-based child abuse, online bullying and Internet safety. He is recognized as an expert in his field and is called upon regularly for consultation with communities, mental health care professionals, schools, and lay people.

“The Internet can be a wonderful tool if used in a positive way with guidance from parents,” declared Frank Buchweitz, OU Director of Community Services and Special Projects, and coordinator of national Positive Jewish Parenting programs. “Our program will provide helpful information to parents on maintaining the positive aspects of the Internet while avoiding its risks, and creating an awareness of how this can be done.”

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under ten. Sponsorship is a minimum of $18, which also covers admission for two. The deadline for pre-registration is May 3, which includes babysitting service.
