NEW ENGLAND NCSY TO CELEBRATE 45 YEARS OF INSPIRING JEWISH TEENS AS IT PRESENTS DESSERT WITH DERSHOWITZ BENEFIT EVENT, DECEMBER 9, IN CAMBRIDGE, MA

As the sixth light of Chanukah illuminates the holiday, the Orthodox Union’s New England Region of NCSY will celebrate 45 years of inspiring Jewish youth when it presents Dessert with Dershowitz with Alan Dershowitz. The evening, to benefit the Jewish teens of New England, will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MA on Sunday, December 9, from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m.

NCSY, the national youth program of the Orthodox Union, provides educational and fun events for both observant and non-observant teenagers. At the forefront in the battle against assimilation, NCSY offers innovative programming which helps Jewish teens see the beauty of their heritage and a Torah-lifestyle. New England, based in Boston, is one of 14 NCSY regions across United States and Canada.

Mr. Dershowitz, who has been called one of the “most distinguished defenders of individual rights” and “America’s most public Jewish defender,” is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. He is the author of many works of fiction and non-fiction, including best-sellers, such as The Case for Israel and The Case for Peace: How the Arab-Israeli Conflict Can be Resolved. As a defender of Israel, he has advocated for Israel and its right to exist and to protect itself against terrorism.

At the NCSY benefit event, Mr. Dershowitz will present The Case for Israel — The Case for Jerusalem. The evening will also include a presentation on NCSY and its affiliate organization, the Jewish Student Union (JSU) for public high-school students; teen testimonials; and a gourmet dessert.

According to Rabbi Shmuel Miller, Director of New England NCSY, “Alan Dershowitz will speak on today’s timeliest issue. He will bring awareness of the situation in Israel and equip audience members with the necessary information to articulate their position on the right of the Jewish people to Israel.”

“It is my hope,” Rabbi Miller continued, “to raise people’s consciousness of our connection and responsibility to the Land of Israel. It is also incumbent upon us to bring together current and potential partners of NCSY and to share with them the urgent need to support Israel and to do our utmost to empower Jewish teens to make Jewish choices as they enter the adult world.”

Admission to Dessert with Dershowitz is $125 per person, with advance reservations required. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information contact 617-332-6279 or 45yearsinspiring@nerncsy.org.
