NCSY ANNOUNCES THE BIG APPLE GIVEAWAY, WITH FINE PRIZES, IN SUPPORT OF CHINESE AUCTION; DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS DECEMBER 9

You don’t have to live in the Big Apple to take part in the Big Apple Giveaway — in fact, those who live in the Big Apple of New York will be joining with people from all over the United States as NCSY | Jewish Youth Leadership presents its first annual raffle to pave the way for a glittering Chinese Auction to be held in late December.

The purpose of the Big Apple Giveaway is to create excitement and buzz about the first national NCSY Chinese Auction, which will raise funds to support NCSY programming in 2011, including scholarships for public school teens to travel to Israel. The incentives are substantial to take part in the Giveaway — a $3,000 shopping spree accompanied by a personal shopper at Apple New York City; two round-trip tickets to New York City for the winners with two nights in the Grand Hyatt Hotel; and dinner at the Prime Grill, the OU certified restaurant that is one of New York’s most favored dining establishments. And for those who live in the New York area and don’t have to fly from elsewhere to get there, the airline tickets will be replaced with a limousine ride around the Big Apple.

Entries are due by December 9, 2011, with the drawing to be held on or about December 10. The earlier you enter and the more friends you refer, the greater your chance of winning.

It’s easy to register – just go to NCSYapple.com.

“Until this year, the Chinese Auction was conducted by New York NCSY with great success,” declared Rabbi Steven Burg, International Director of NCSY. “The prizes are elite — for example, a year of free food from Kosher.com, a trip for two to Israel with a week’s stay at the Plaza Hotel, a European vacation and a personal Sefer Torah. Given the success of the Auction, we made a determination to make the event national, expanding it coast to coast and offering a trip to New York for the winners to sample some of the best experiences the Big Apple has to offer. Giving the event a national audience will expand its fundraising capabilities and therefore its support of NCSY programming and scholarships for our more than 250 public school clubs, 35,000 high school participants and amazing array of Shabbatonim and summer experiences.”

The raffle is being directed by Rabbi Dave Felsenthal, the Director of OU Alumni Connections, which reaches out to graduates of various OU programs — such as NCSY — to keep them active in the Jewish community even after completing their original involvement. “The Big Apple Giveaway is an excellent means of keeping in touch with our alumni and to offer them the opportunity to help support the programs they loved themselves. We want family members and others to get involved — parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, family friends — the more names anyone submits, the more chances there are to win. As in the case of any NCSY event, the purpose of the raffle and of the Chinese Auction is to make it possible for NCSY to serve Jewish teens and to provide them with experiences that will last a lifetime, which they can pass on someday to their own children.”

As in any raffle, there are important rules and restrictions that must be followed. The rules are also available at NCSYapple.com.
