OU WEST COAST’S RABBI ALAN AND SANDY KALINSKY TO VISIT SEATTLE AS SCHOLARS-IN-RESIDENCE AT CONGREGATION BIKUR CHOLIM MACHZIKAY HADATH, JULY 19-20

Rabbi Alan Kalinsky, director of the OU West Coast Region based in Los-Angeles, and his wife, Sandy, will present an OU Weekend in Seattle, serving as Scholars-in-Residence at Congregation Bikur Cholim Machzikay Hadath from July 19-20 (Shabbat Parshat Va’etchanan/Shabbat Nachamu).

The OU member synagogue is located at 5145 S Morgan Street.

Rabbi Kalinsky will speak Shabbat morning on “From Sadness to Happiness – The Resilience of the Jewish People.” Mrs. Kalinsky will present a special class for women in the afternoon on “Tu B’Av – A Most Unique and Important Jewish Holiday.”

Later in the day, Rabbi Kalinsky will give a class for men and women, addressing “Standing on Ceremony – Are We Obligated to Stand When We Read the Aseret HaDibrot (The Ten Commandments)?” Finally, Rabbi Kalinsky will speak during seudat shlishit on “Materialism and Judaism: The High Cost of Jewish Living.”

“We are looking forward to the opportunity to hear words of Torah from Rabbi and Rebbitzen Kalinsky on a special Shabbat we are planning for Shabbat Nachamu,” said Dan Birk, synagogue president. “Our community of Seaward Park-Seattle enjoys coming out to hear words of Torah from a family steeped in Torah values. We invite the whole community to come out to share in this program that includes a special Mussaf davening by Rabbi Simon Benzaquen, rabbi emeritus of Sephardic Bikur Holim of Seattle.”
