Dr. Hedy and Terrence Augenbraun of Fairfield, CT
To be Honored for Contributions to Jewish Life

 Dr. Hedy and Terrence Augenbraun of Fairfield, CT will be honored by the Orthodox Union with its President’s Award for their long-standing commitment to community service and their contributions to Jewish life at the organization’s 102nd Anniversary National Dinner on Sunday, May 21, 2000, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York.

Terrence Augenbraun was graduated from Harpur College, (SUNY Binghamton) and also studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.  He is president of Augenbraun and Associates, a marketing consulting firm serving the cosmetics and fragrance industries.

Mr. Augenbraun is an OU regional vice-president and serves as chair of the ritual committee for Congregation Ahavath Achim in Fairfield, where he is also synagogue past president. In addition, he served as a vice president of the Jewish Federation in Bridgeport, CT.

Dr. Hedy Augenbraun was also graduated from Harpur College, SUNY Binghamton and earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Memphis.  She maintains a private practice in Bridgeport and serves as chief psychologist for the Social Security Disability program in Connecticut.

Dr. Augenbraun is a member of the board of Hillel Academy in Fairfield and is a past co-president of the Hillel Parents Association.  In addition, she served for five years as chair of the continuing education committee of the Connecticut Psychological Association.

The Augenbrauns have two children and four grandchildren.

“Throughout their life together, the Augenbrauns have personified the ideals of tikkun olam  (repairing the world),” said Mandell I. Ganchrow, M.D., President of the Union.  “We are proud to honor their selfless devotion to their greater community and to klal Yisrael.”

Other honorees at the Union’s Anniversary Dinner include: Rabbi Jacob J. Schacter of the Jewish Center in New York,  Jean and Marvin Staiman, and Esther and Harry Walker.  Union President Mandell I. Ganchrow, M.D., will be presented with the organization’s Keter Shem Tov Award for his years of distinguished leadership.
