A Call for Unity and Support for Israel
Institute for Public Affairs Honors New Jersey Residents New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg and Fredric Mack,
Executive Director of the Mack-Heiferman Company, were the guests of honor at the Orthodox Unions Institute for Public Affairs Dinner in New York City.
As the keynote speaker, Senator Lautenberg eloquently called for unity within the Jewish community. He explained, The OU has a very strong and important voice. Help us find a way to resolve any internal disputes that may exist in the Jewish family.
Lautenberg also lauded dinner chair and New Jersey resident, Stephen
Flatow, for his unfaltering commitment to Israel. Even though Flatows daughter, Alyssa, was murdered by Palestinian terrorists while touring in the Gaza Strip in 1995, the Flatows did not succumb to the terrorists intentions and encouraged their younger daughter to spend time in Israel. Senator Lautenberg explained that his sponsorship of the Victims of Terrorism Act will hopefully help assure that governments that sponsor such vile acts will
have to pay a price for their murderous behavior.
Frank Lautenberg has enjoyed remarkable success as an innovative business leader, respected communal activist and devoted United States Senator for nearly 20 years. The Institute for Public Affairs particularly appreciates his life-long support for the State of Israel and his historic
efforts to bring a measure of justice to families that have lost loved ones to terrorism.
Elected to the United State Senate in 1982, Senator Lautenberg quickly distinguished himself as a leader in environmental affairs, transportation issues and foreign policy. His leadership qualities have been reflected in his outspoken positions on issues affecting Israels security and dignity, including a major role in the efforts to secure our governments recognition of Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel.
Fredric Mack has been a vice president and senior partner at Mack Construction Corp since 1975 and a partner at Mack Industries, Mack Affiliates, and the Mack Company since 1975.
He is currently the Executive Director of the Mack-Heiferman Company, and a member of the Board of Directors at Patriot American Investors and AFA Protective Systems.
For over a decade, the Institute for Public Affairs has sponsored an acclaimed Congressional summer internship program that sends the best and the brightest of our college students to Capitol Hill. Proceeds from the IPA dinner will help endow, in perpetuity, a number of internship slots
bearing Senator Lautenbergs name for interns to serve in the
offices of senators and representatives from New Jersey.
