Rockin in Rockland As
Israel Turns Fifty-Two
Rockland County Community Comes Together
to Wish Israel a Happy Birthday
The Jewish community of
Rockland County will join together with the Orthodox
Union to host a gala celebration at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9th
at ASHAR, 70 Highview
Road, Monsey, New York, in
honor of the 52nd anniversary of Israels
Independence.
The
program will open with a festive prayer service in honor of the holiday,
followed by a choral rendition presented by the students from ASHAR, the
local Hebrew day school.

of both ASHAR and the Community Synagogue of Monsey, will be the guest
speaker on the topic of: Yom
Haatzmaut: Amidst a Jewish World in Conflict.
In
its brief history as a State, Israel has overcome many challenging
trials as it has struggled to maintain its independence despite hostile
neighbors. Though Jewish
communities thrive in countries throughout the world, Israel remains the
true Jewish homeland. It is
with this in mind that the entire community of Rockland County is
invited to share in this years Israel Independence Day celebration.
The evenings festivities will be sponsored by Congregation
Hadar, Congregation Ohaiv Yisrael, Yeshivat Hadar Avraham Tsvi,
Community Synagogue of Monsey, Congregation Bais Torah, Congregation
Bais Yehudah, Kehillath New Hempstead, Congregation Shomrei Torah of
Forshay, Young Israel of Monsey and Wellesley Hills, Congregation Bnai
Yeshurun, Young Israel of Spring Valley and the Orthodox Union.
There will be a collation following the program.
The Orthodox Union, now in its second
century of service to the Jewish
community of America and beyond, is the world leader in youth
work, advocacy for
the disabled, synagogue
services, adult
education and political
action. Its kosher supervision label, the OU, is the world's
most recognized kosher symbol and can be found on nearly 250,000
products in 68 countries around the
globe.
