The
Passing of Cardinal OConnor
It
is with sorrow that the Orthodox Union mourns the loss of Cardinal John
OConnor, Archbishop of New York, a man whose life was dedicated
to uniting the religious communities of New York and inspiring the belief
in God and religion. He will
be remembered for his undying commitment to his followers and his
unyielding belief in humanity.
The
legacy of Cardinal OConnor will manifest itself as the ideals he espoused are
embraced by those whose lives he touched.
Mandell I. Ganchrow, M.D., President
and Rabbi Raphael Butler, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union,
issued the following statement:
The
Orthodox Union records with deep sadness the passing of a towering figure of
guidance and inspiration to his flock, and a principled, compassionate friend to
the Jewish people and to all humanity.
