TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR JEWISH DEAF PRIDE:
MARCH IN THE ISRAELI DAY PARADE
New York, NY: Our Way, a national organization in the
forefront of outreach to the deaf, is calling upon all deaf and hearing-impaired Jews to
show their commitment to Israel and the Jewish people by marching in the Israeli Day
Parade Sunday, May 9, at 54th Street between Madison and Fifth Avenues in Manhattan.
Our Way will have its own group, with line up beginning at approximately 2:15 p.m.
Since 1969, Our Way has been addressing the social,
cultural, religious and educational needs of Jewish deaf youth and adults throughout North
America. By providing the Jewish deaf with year-round religious and cultural programs such
as Sukkah tours, Chanukah contests and signed megillah readings across the country, Our
Way instills in the Jewish deaf a sense of belonging and Jewish pride. A division of the
National Jewish Council for the Disabled (NJCD), Our Way is a national movement with
chapters throughout the United States and Canada that helps combat the social and
spiritual alienation of the Jewish deaf.
