National Jewish Council for the Disabled to Honor
Elaine Cohen Liebman for Outstanding Leadership in Service to the Developmentally Disabled
Elaine Cohen Liebman, a Manhattan resident and an active board
member of the National Jewish Council for the Disableds (NJCD) Yachad program for adults and children with
developmental disabilities, will be presented with the organizations Outstanding
Leadership Award at its annual dinner on Sunday, November 14, at the Marriott Marquis
Hotel in New York.
In her role as a member of Yachads Board of Directors, Ms.
Cohen Liebman, whose sister is a Yachad participant, effectively reflects and conveys the
sibling perspective. Ms. Cohen Liebman is devoted to raising awareness about the needs of
people with developmental disabilities and plays a vital role in the relationship between
Yachad programs and the Manhattan Jewish community. She currently serves as a member of
the Lincoln Square Synagogue Board of
Trustees and Youth Committee, as an officer and member of the Manhattan Day School/Yeshiva
Ohr Torah Board of Directors, and as co-president of its Parent Association.
"Elaine Cohen Liebman demonstrates a steadfast commitment to
ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities are included in all facets of
Jewish life. And she provides us all with wonderful insights into our Yachad members
hopes and dreams. For her unwavering dedication to people with special needs, we are proud
to honor Elaine with our 1999 Outstanding Leadership Award," said Dr. Jeffrey
Lichtman, National Director of the NJCD.
With more than 35 chapters throughout the United States and Canada,

most recognized kosher symbol and can be found on over 200,000 products in 62 countries
around the globe.
