NEW OPEN DOOR PROGRAM
HAS POTENTIAL TO BOOST JEWISH UNITY

March 19, 1999 - "Hachnosat Orchim (hospitality) is the cornerstone of the Jewish faith and a mitzvah that offers enormous potential in fostering Jewish unity," said Marilyn Golomb Selber, National President of the OU's Women's Branch and the initiator of K'NOS, a new OU program to encourage hospitality.

"Women have the power to unify the Jewish people with just three little words: Come for Shabbos," added Golomb Selber. PROJECT K'NOS - which means welcoming or ingathering in Hebrew - is asking people to open their homes to guests and especially to out-of-town visitors. The program will also encourage shuls to develop hospitality centers. The K'NOS kick-off event, scheduled for Friday-Saturday, April 30-May 1, will feature Jewish homes across the country hosting Shabbos guests simultaneously. On the weekend prior to the kick-off event, Rabbis in communities from Miami, Florida to San Diego, California will speak about the importance of opening one's home to guests.
