JEWISH
GROUP HOME FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED
TO BE OPENED IN NEW JERSEY
The National Jewish Council for the Disabled (NJCD) is
looking for individuals interested in a Jewish Alternative Living Residence in the State
of New Jersey.
The residence, scheduled to open at the end of next year and to be
located in Northern NJ, will enable New Jersey residents with mild to moderate
developmental disabilities to remain close to their families and/or their jobs.
Open to Jewish men between the ages of 18-30, the new residence will
be the first group home in New Jersey with a commitment to meet the traditional and
cultural needs of the Jewish developmentally disabled.
To qualify for placement, candidates must be New Jersey residents,
preferably classified as urgent category by the State.
This residence is part of the latest initiative of NJCD to develop
alternative living residences serving the full range of Jewish needs in local geographic
areas around the country. NJCD, sponsored by the Orthodox Union, is the only
organization addressing the full spectrum of needs of the Jewish developmentally disabled.
NJCD is a premier clearing house and national resource center, providing Jewish
individuals who have special needs with social, educational and recreational
mainstreamed programs; advocacy, family counseling,
support services; and vocational resources and job placement.
For more information, please call NJCD at (212)
