The Next Frontier in Jewish
Education: Orthodox Union To Sponsor Program Affording Women Personal and Religious Fulfillment The Orthodox Union's (OU) Department of Synagogue Services is sponsoring a 12-week Torah learning seminar designed to meet the intellectual and spiritual needs of women beginning February 1, at the West Side Institutional Synagogue, 120 West 76th St. (between Amsterdam and Columbus). Geared for women spanning all ages and all levels of Jewish knowledge, the program features some of Orthodoxy's leading Torah scholars including Yeshiva University's Roshei Yeshiva Rabbi Hershel Schachter, Rabbi Mordechai Willig, Rabbi Yonasan Sacks, Rabbi Michael Rosensweig, and others. The program includes stimulating, thought-provoking advanced courses on halachic and philosophical issues including "Jewish Womanhood," "The Principles and Applications of Kashruth," "Tehillim and Tefilla: Poetry in Prayer," and "The Laws of Shabbat." "In today's world, Torah study is crucial for both men and women to internalize faith and achieve enduring religious enthusiasm. These classes promise to be rigorous, challenging and, above all, spiritually enriching," said Rabbi Moshe Krupka, Director of OU Synagogue Services. "Rather than focusing solely on the synagogue, women can find spiritual wholeness through intensive and consistent Torah study," said Rabbi Raphael B. Butler, Executive Vice President of the OU. "We are pleased to present such an array of erudite Torah scholars in this unique program." More Information on the Torah Seminar for Women and How to Register.
