IS ALL THE NEWS FIT TO PRINT? OU Forum Takes In-Depth Look at
the Role March 23, 1998 The evening, sponsored by the OUs Institute for Public Affairs (IPA), will include a presentation by Rabbi Yitzchok Breitowitz, congregational rabbi and Associate Professor of Law at the University of Maryland, on what Jewish law and tradition has to say about the conduct of a Jewish press. This will be followed by a lively question and answer period featuring Eve Kessler, Religion Editor of the Forward, Gary Rosenblatt, Editor of the New York Jewish Week, and Stan Steinreich, a Senior Vice President with Edelman Public Relations Worldwide. Some of the questions panelists will address include: Does the press serve the interests of the American Jewish community? What role does editorial subjectivity play in how the press presents its reports to the community? Is the press a forum for civil discussion or a catalyst for acrimony? Admission is free but reservations are required.
