Job Board Hosts November 29 Network Session for Lawyers for National Webcast
The current economic climate has been particularly difficult for the legal profession, with firms large and small cutting staffs and putting lawyers out of work. As a result, the Orthodox Union Job Board’s Wall Street Initiative presents, “Networking for Attorneys,” a session featuring experts in job placement in the legal field. The first part of the program will be viewed on a live national webcast, featured on the OU Job Board website, oujobs.org.
The event will be held on Wednesday, November 29 at 5:30 p.m. EST at OU Headquarters, 11 Broadway.
There will be two sessions, the first of which will be included on the webcast:
• A special presentation, focusing on “Out of the box job opportunities for attorneys.” It will include topics such as Marketing 101, “a new approach to a job search; telling and selling your personal story; and career options you may not have considered.”
The presenters include Jay Heino, President, Jay Heino, LLC, a tax recruiting specialist; Mark Jacobson, President, Legal Search Inc, who has job openings he is seeking to fill; and Gloria Waslyn, a career management professional.
• Speed Networking, moderated by distinguished attorneys, who will share insight into their areas of legal expertise.
“This recession has been unusually tough for attorneys, who in the past have weathered downturns quite well,” declared Michael Rosner, Director of the Job Board. “Now attorneys with years of service, even as partners, are unemployed. In addition, the market is difficult for recent law school graduates. The purpose of this session is to allow attorneys to network, to get tips from experts in legal recruitment and job placement, and to give suggestions for the participants to look for ways of practicing the law they may not have thought of previously.”
Registration is required. To register, go to the Job Boards website, oujobs.org. Space is limited and people will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis only.
