Makes A Great Snack Anytime:
Maccabeans Legendary Jelly Beans are Certified
OU Kosher and Pareve
Maccabeans LLC announced today that it has
launched Maccabeans Legendary Jelly Beans in ten rainbow flavors.
Certified kosher by the Orthodox Union, these jelly beans are pareve,
which means they are neither meat nor dairy. Many jelly bean brands are
dairy and therefore for Jews who keep kosher and wish to have a sweet
treat after a meat meal, they are off limits. But not Maccabeans jelly
beans. Due to their OU pareve certification, they are a great treat for
anytime with any meal.
Maccabeans were introduced at Kosherfest 2002, where the product was
awarded “Best New Product Name” in the New Product Competition. In June,
2004 Maccabeans were included in a selection of the “Sweet 16” top
products at the All Candy Expo in Chicago.
However, it is only since May of this year that Maccabeans have only
been available through retail outlets. Since that time, the product has
been gaining national distribution. In Baltimore, Maccabeans are
available at Giant Food, Pern’s, Jacob’s Ladder, A to Z, The Candy
Store, and Goldberg’s. In New York, Supersol, Brach’s, Shoprite, and
Kosher Palace are selling them, as are Belden’s in Houston, and Glick’s
in Florida. Susan Sklar, company president, expects Maccabeans to be
widely available through major chains and at smaller candy and gift
stores for the Hanukkah holiday season.
Maccabeans are available in two convenient sizes. The 8.5 stand-up foil
bag, with resealable zipper, is well suited to grocery, specialty
stores, gift baskets, and synagogue Judaica shops. The 2.0 ounce mini
size lends itself well to gift baskets and is also a great item for
delis, candy stores and counter tops everywhere, Ms. Sklar declared.
Suggested retail price points are $2.99-3.49 for the 8.5 ounce package
and $0.99 for the 2.0 ounce minibag.

Maccabeans Legendary Jelly Beans are a small and convenient pareve snack
for anytime.
