Rabbi Kenneth N. Hain to be Honored at
OU National Anniversary Dinner

Rabbi Kenneth N. Hain, president of the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) and spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Sholom of Lawrence, New York, will be honored by the Orthodox Union with its National Rabbinic Leadership Award for his long-standing commitment to community service and his contributions to Jewish life, at the OU’s 103rd Anniversary National Dinner on Sunday, May 20, 2001, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York.

Rabbi Hain is currently the president of the RCA, and since 1988, has served as spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Sholom of Lawrence, New York, the oldest Orthodox synagogue in Long Island's Nassau County.  Rabbi Hain has also served as the rabbi of Congregation Orach Chaim in Manhattan's Upper East Side, assistant rabbi at the Fifth Avenue Synagogue and rabbi of the United Orthodox Synagogue in Houston.

Rabbi Hain’s communal work includes serving as a member of the board of governors of the Orthodox Union, a member of the executive board of The Orthodox Caucus, a member of the Board of Kashruth of the Five Towns and a member of the board of Yeshivat Sha'alavim.

Rabbi Hain has lectured throughout the country, including at the 92nd Street Y, Israel Bonds, UJA-Federation, and the Orthodox Union.  He has also published numerous articles in Jewish journals and publications.

Rabbi Hain is an honorary president of the Rabbinic Alumni of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University and is a member of the Rabbinic Advisory Council of UJA-Federation.  He received his semicha from RIETS-YU.  He has taught Judaic Studies at Stern College and for five years served as a director at Yeshiva University's RIETS Division of Communal Services.  Rabbi Hain received the Rabbinic Leadership Award of the UJA Federation of New York in 2000.

Rabbi Hain and his wife, Nancy, reside in Lawrence, New York and are proud parents and grandparents.
