When it comes to ASK OU Outreach, the popular educational program of OU Kosher sponsored by the Harry H. Beren Foundation of Lakewood, NJ, “outreach” means bringing the knowledge of OU experts not only to Ashkenazi communities, but increasingly to Sephardic communities as well. Next in line: the dual communities of Forest Hills, Queens.

ASK OU Outreach program will bring a free pre-Passover presentation Sunday, March 18 to the Queens Jewish Center in Forest Hills, 66-05 108 Street. Sponsoring organizations include Chazaq, Queens Jewish Center, the Queens Jewish Community Council, the Vaad Harabonim of Queens and the Young Israel of Forest Hills.

Rabbi Yosef Grossman, OU Senior Educational Rabbinic Coordinator who organizes the ASK OU programs stated, “We look forward to reaching out to both the Ashkenazi and Bucharian residents of Queens. After interfacing with the Brooklyn Syrian community and the Great Neck Persian community through ASK OU OUTREACH, we thought that meeting our Sefardic brethren from the Bucharian community in Queens was the next logical stop. We look forward to a successful program similar to that of our previous visits to the other Sefardic communities.”

In the Forest Hills program, Rabbi Nachum Rabinowitz, Senior Rabbinic Coordinator and wine expert, will speak at 7:30 p.m. on “OU Wine and Grape Juice,” to be followed at 8:15 p.m. by “Ask the OU Rabbonim,” a Q&A session on Pesach and year-round kashrut issues. It will feature Rabbi Moshe Elefant, Chief Operating Office of OU Kosher, and Rabbi Eli Gersten, Rabbinic Coordinator for Recording Psak and Policy of OU Kosher.

The program will conclude at 9:00 p.m. when Rabbi Dov Schreier, Rabbinic Coordinator for Food Service at OU Kosher, will present a forum on “Hotels, Catering and Restaurant Issues for Pesach and Year-Round.”

Priority in the Q&A session will be given to questions sent by fax to 212-613-0621 or to {encode=”mailto:Grossman@ou.org” title=”Grossman@ou.org”}. For further information, contact Rabbi Grossman at {encode=”mailto:Grossman@ou.org” title=”Grossman@ou.org”}, or 212-613-8212.
