27 Jan 2014

The OU Job Board, together with co-sponsors Yachad, the Jewish Union Foundation (JUF), and Emergency Parnossah Initiative (EPI) present “JOB FAIR 2014,” an Inclusive Job Fair on Thursday, February 6, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place. All qualified job seekers are welcome to register and attend.

Pre-registration is free. Walk-ins are welcome with a $20 admission fee at the door.

The OU Job Board, now the largest Jewish job board in the United States, Canada and Europe, once again presents and produces this exciting event. The OU Job Board provides not only jobs but also hosts résumés, e-learning classes, job fairs, résumé writing and networking events, and provides career counseling and mentorship to all who seek those services. The OU Job Board has changed the way one finds a job by providing enhancement services in improving decorum, professional attire, and online presence, and other needed employment information and related benefits by partnering with over fifty nationwide and worldwide organizations providing help to those in need.

“Yachad,” the flagship program of the Orthodox Union’s National Jewish Council for Disabilities (NJCD), provides unique social, educational and recreational programs for individuals with learning, developmental and physical disabilities with the goal of their Inclusion in the total life of the Jewish community.

The Jewish Union Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the independence of individuals with developmental disabilities, enabling them to better participate in the full spectrum of life.

The Emergency Parnossah Initiative is a New York/New Jersey-based organization that provides one-on-one service to unemployed people and provides them with life-changing tools to enhance their employment opportunities. Primarily focused on the Yeshiva/Charedi constituency, EPI provides enhancements from how to dress to how to respond when taking an interview.

According to Michael Rosner, international director of the OU Job Board, “Because the OU Job Board is involved in every aspect of employment search, we felt that having Yachad, JUF and EPI join us in this particular fair, will bring into focus all people in need of employment and make them available to companies and factories in need of employees. We’ve held successful job fairs in the past for those without disabilities and those with disabilities; this time we have combined services for both groups into one comprehensive and inclusive job fair. More than 500 people have already registered.”

Says Jack Gourdji, Executive Director of JUF, “We are very excited about the upcoming inclusive Job Fair taking place on February 6. It will be a great opportunity for people with disabilities to showcase their talents in an environment in which they know they will not be judged by their disability, but rather by who they are and what they have accomplished. For the companies attending, I have confidence they will be expanding their reach of finding qualified candidates by including people with disabilities as potential employees.”

Zisha Novoseller, Executive Director of EPI, says, “Our close work with the OU Job Board and our unique setting within the Jewish community gives us a special insight into the problems of the unemployed.” He points out that EPI’s Business G’mach has put millions of dollars into the community and employed hundreds of people by providing interest-free loans to small business investors.
