The Executive Fellowship has been the most fulfilling opportunity I could’ve asked for post graduation. With the program designed to provide diverse learning opportunities and hands-on work experience, I was able to hit the ground running towards a career in klal work. One of my favorite elements has been getting to work at the OU headquarters. It’s empowering to be in an office surrounded by people who are not just sensitive to the modern needs of world Jewry, but also actively doing something about it. If you’re serious about investing your career in giving back to the Jewish community, the Executive Fellowship is the perfect first step for you.
As an OU Executive Fellow, I worked closely with senior leadership, managing complex projects and cross-departmental initiatives. I developed practical skills in strategy, coordination, and turning ideas into action, while gaining a deeper appreciation for how a large Jewish organization serves its communities. The fellowship also broadened my view of the Jewish communal world and allowed me to learn from and connect with dedicated leaders across the field. Being part of a thoughtful and engaged cohort made the experience especially meaningful and strengthened the learning at every step.
The Executive Fellowship has been one of the most amazing first job experiences I could’ve ever asked for. Doing something that I love and have a passion for as a job was something I always wanted, and with this fellowship I gained that and so much more. Working as a team, making professional connections, the list goes on and on. I have gained both from my direct supervisor and from working in an organization of this size.
The fellowship has been an incredible experience, showing me that I can really make klal work a career. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities this fellowship has offered me, and I am surprised by the amount of support and guidance that people wanted to give! Working for an organization like the OU is such a cool experience because anything you do will be innately meaningful. I will forever be grateful for this opportunity!
Since joining the fellowship program at the OU I have received a glimpse of what it means to dedicate yourself to serving your community. It has been such a pleasure and a privilege to meet so many wonderful people at the OU and be a part of an organization imbued with a positive, excited energy for helping others. Working as a junior software engineer, I have had the chance to collaborate on projects that are making a difference in Jewish lives around the world and be a part of a team filled with some of the most intelligent, creative, patient, and kind people I have every worked with. With their help, I have enriched my coding abilities and learned many practical skills that they don’t teach you in school, and that I will be able to take with me wherever I go next. In my cohort specifically, I have had the chance to work with other non-profit groups on the ground, making a difference. I have participated in building houses for those affected by natural disasters, helped run a pro-Israel rally, and many other amazing opportunities that would not normally be available to someone in my field. It has been a tremendous experience and I am excited to see what we fellows will do next.
