- A note on translations: Our audience is diverse – in geography, background, Torah knowledge and Hebrew language proficiency. Please translate:
- All Hebrew phrases and Psukim you quote.
- All chapter numbers when referencing sources.
- No need to translate source names (i.e. “Tehillim” or “Shmot.”)
Recording Guidelines:
- Find a smartphone with voice recording capabilities and locate a voice recording app:
- For iPhone, we recommend the Voice Memos app, which comes pre-installed.
- For Samsung, we recommend Samsung Voice Recorder. If it is not already installed, go to the Google Play app where it can be downloaded for free.
- For all other Android phones, we recommend downloading either Easy Voice Recorder or Voice Recorder, which can be found in the Google Play app. Both are free.
- Run a quick test to make sure that the voice recorder is picking up your voice. Here are some guidelines to ensure that you record a clear, uninterrupted voice recording, provided by Verizon:
- Locate your phone’s microphone, usually a little hole toward the bottom of the phone.
- If you are holding your phone while recording, make sure that:
- The microphone isn’t covered by your hand.
- There is a reasonable distance between your mouth and the microphone to ensure a clear audio capture.
- For a natural sounding voice recording, keep your voice at a normal talking level rather than using a raised voice.
- Find a quiet place to record. Most smartphone microphones will pick up surrounding noises, so a quiet room rather than a public space will allow for a clearer recording.
- Put your phone on airplane mode to ensure that calls and messages do not cause interruption.
- When you are ready to record, press the record button. When you have finished your shiur, make sure you press STOP rather than PAUSE.
- Your smartphone will store your voice recording on your phone. Locate your recording in your voice recording app’s recording library.
- There will be a SHARE option for your voice recording. Please share it with us via email, sending it to mayerfelda@ou.org. Please wait for a confirmation from us before deleting your recording.
By submitting the recording, Presenter acknowledges and agrees that all Audio Recordings submitted herein by the Presenter in accordance with this Agreement were commissioned by the Orthodox Union and the OU WI, and that the Orthodox Union and OU WI shall own all right, title, and interest therein. The Presenter acknowledges and agrees that all Audio Recordings submitted herein shall remain the sole possession of the Orthodox Union and the OU WI. Presenter agrees that the Audio Recordings may not be disseminated by the Presenter to others without express consent of the OU WI. The Presenter acknowledges and agrees that the OU and/or the OU WI do not and shall not owe Presenter any fees, expenses or other amounts other than as expressly provided in the Registration Form.
