OU-JLIC “Keeping it Optimal”

Highlighting: David Kashanirokh, Co-President

“Though it was a different type of High Holiday Season, OU-JLIC West succeeded in ‘keeping it optimal’, incredibly providing students with food, enjoyable social experiences and meaningful learning opportunities in the city, in the San Fernando Valley and in Westwood, California,” says Sharona Kaplan, OU-JLIC Campus Director, Hillel at UCLA, Regional Director, West Coast, Executive Leadership Cohort, National Senior Manager.

With fantastic leadership including David Kashanirokh, a senior psychology major who has been part of the OU-JLIC team for two years now, we can only be successful. Starting as Learning Director his junior year, David played a huge role organizing numerous events throughout the week. One being his very own, “Parasha and Pals!”, where he teaches the Parasha of the week through a PowerPoint presentation and Kahoot. David is an aspiring Professor of psychology and is preparing for his educational career by teaching Torah. David in the photo at OU-JLIC’s recent “Have a Shake, Give a Shake” Sukkot program.

“I got involved with OU-JLIC so I could have a greater impact on the Jewish community at UCLA, one of my main goals is to make Jewish learning accessible for all types of Jewish people at UCLA.” says David.

Going into his senior year, David took on the role of Co-President where he acquired much more responsibilities yet continued to teach his class “Parasha and Pals”. David is a dedicated individual who did not let the obstacles of remote learning stop him and works his hardest on making this the best year yet.
