Coming Closer: Understanding and Experiencing Tefillah
by Rabbi Yisrael Shlomo Goldfinger
Co-published by OU Press and Menucha Publishers
Coming Closer: Understanding and Experiencing Tefillah by Rabbi Yisrael Shlomo Goldfinger explains how tefillah contains the ideal framework for the relationship between man and God. Subjecting the sequence and language of the prayers to close analysis, Rabbi Goldfinger uncovers patterns which convey the closeness and distance, the attitude of a son and that of a servant, which characterize our relationship with the Almighty. Written in an accessible style, Coming Closer succeeds in explicating the prayers in the Siddur in a way that enables them to accomplish their intended goal, bringing us closer to God.
