{"id":42147,"date":"2015-07-27T09:50:05","date_gmt":"2015-07-27T14:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/?p=42147"},"modified":"2015-07-27T12:22:21","modified_gmt":"2015-07-27T17:22:21","slug":"worst-day-ever-inspires","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/inspiration\/worst-day-ever-inspires\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Worst Day Ever&#8217; Inspires"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_42164\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 211px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/files\/article1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-post-42147 wp-image-42164 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/files\/article1.jpg\" alt=\"article\" width=\"211\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Chanie Gorkin&#8217;s poem &#8220;Worst Day Ever?&#8221; tweeted out after found posted in London.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Perhaps by now you\u2019ve come across the poem \u201cWorst Day Ever?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The poem has been making waves across social media as an anonymous post until the author\u2019s identity was revealed last week: 16-year-old Chanie Gorkin, a student at the all-girls Lubavitch high school Beth Rivkah in Crown Heights.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the scope of Jewish publications, the inspiring poem has caught the\u00a0 attention from media outlets on both sides of the Atlantic, including <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2015\/07\/23\/chanie-gorkin-poem\/?utm_cid=mash-com-Tw-main-link\">Mashable<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/2015\/07\/23\/poem-read-backwards-is-positive_n_7854952.html\">The Huffington Post<\/a>, Teen Vogue, ABC, NBC and The Telegraph. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forward.com\/news\/breaking-news\/317926\/hasidic-teens-uplifting-poem-goes-viral\/\">JTA<\/a> reports it has been translated into several languages, including Hebrew, Chinese and Russian.<\/p>\n<p>The poem was even spotted hanging on the wall of a North London bar by a man who tweeted it out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe coverage has been overwhelming,\u201d says Gorkin\u2019s mother Dena in an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chabad.org\/news\/article_cdo\/aid\/3017337\/sc\/fb\/jewish\/Brooklyn-Teens-Poem-Goes-Viral-Sharing-Chassidic-Inspiration-With-the-World.htm\">Chabad.org<\/a>,\u00a0noting that her daughter was not looking for such attention. \u201cBut she is happy to have inspired so many people.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42176\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 224px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/files\/poem-Italian-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-post-42147 wp-image-42176\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/files\/poem-Italian-web.jpg\" alt=\"Chanie's poem, posted on Facebook, translated into Italian \" width=\"224\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Chanie&#8217;s poem, posted on Facebook, translated into Italian<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The poem, whose deeper message is revealed only once read backward, was originally assigned for a school project, and later submitted on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poetrynation.com\/poem.php?id=50509\">PoetryNation <\/a>website.
