\"RieselSacks\"<\/a>Finding one\u2019s spouse can be a daunting process, but for the Riesels it was\u00a0nothing short of miraculous. They had G-d guiding them with\u00a0NCSY<\/a> unwittingly acting as\u00a0their matchmaker.\u00a0Because Heshy Riesel grew in up in a Hasidic household and\u00a0Rochelle Cohen grew up in a non-observant home, there weren\u2019t many chances\u00a0for them to meet. If \u00a0anything, they were worlds apart. However, Heshy had a drive\u00a0to share his Jewish spirit with others, so he became involved in NCSY<\/a>, quickly\u00a0working his way up to become a leader. Rochelle became interested in learning more\u00a0about Judaism as a teenager and grew steadily in her yiddishkeit through her\u00a0college years. They needed a big force to bring\u00a0them together and that force was NCSY<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One week, Rochelle heard that there was a senior NCSY<\/a>\u00a0Shabbaton. Thinking\u00a0this meant a college senior Shabbaton, she decided she wanted to go.\u00a0She\u00a0packed up her bags and hurried out Friday afternoon to get there prior to Shabbat. She arrived with time to spare at the shul, but, to her disappointment, the shul\u00a0was locked. Frantically, she hurried to the home of the Shabbaton coordinator.<\/p>\n

As Shabbat was now fast approaching she knocked heavily on the door. Once\u2026 Twice\u2026 No answer. She decided to knock once more and finally someone ran to\u00a0the door. It was Heshy who answered. Though he was confused as to why\u00a0this young lady was knocking at his door, he kindly asked what Rochelle was\u00a0doing there. She replied that she was a college senior that had come for the Shabbaton. Bewildered, Heshy thought for a second and then realized what happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh no,\u201d Heshy said. \u201cThis is a senior Shabbaton for kids in high school, not\u00a0college.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seeing her downfallen face he quickly added, \u201cBut don\u2019t worry! We have tons of\u00a0room in our house. Please join us for the Shabbaton.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the rest is some happy history\u2026<\/p>\n

The story of how each couple meets is always special.\u00a0Finding G-d\u2019s hand in it is often so clear. In the Riesels’ case,\u00a0G-d\u2019s hand used NCSY <\/a>to bring together two people, from different backgrounds,\u00a0different regions and different families to build a Jewish home together.<\/p>\n
