Truthfully, it\u2019s not always about what to clean but rather what to keep and what to throw away. Nowhere is this dilemma more evident than when confronting the kitchen pantry. Save it, sell it or serve it before Seder? Yes, all you pre-Pesach mavens, start your cooking\/cleaning engines and pull out the half finished, how did that get back there packages, canisters and boxes of cereal that you know are too good to throw away but are too empty make something out of.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The following recipes are all super duper easy and can be made with whatever&#8217;s in YOUR pantry. As long as what you have is kind of similar, it doesn&#8217;t have to be exactly what\u2019s in the ingredients listed below. So make these treats and dishes to enjoy while the rest of your family is cleaning the rest of the house.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Oreo Cookie Candy Balls (dairy)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>24 to 36 servings.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>\u00bd package (4 oz.) cream cheese, softened<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>18 to 20 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups) (or other sandwich cookies)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>8 to 10 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Chocolate sprinkles or multi colored sprinkles<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the cream cheese and cookie crumbs. Mix until well-blended.<\/li>\n<li>Using a melon baller or small ice cream scoop make 24 to 36 balls (just make sure they\u2019re not too big). Place them on a cookie sheet (lined with wax paper) and freeze them for 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Melt the semisweet chips in a bowl in the microwave and then dip the balls in melted chocolate. Place them back on the cookie sheet. Sprinkle a few sprinkles on top.<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>This recipe can be doubled or tripled.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Modified from Nabisco.com<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Fig Newton Carrot Cake (dairy or pareve)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>10 to 12 servings<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1 package\u00a0(2-layer size) carrot cake mix<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cup water<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>3 eggs<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup oil<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>15 Fig Newton\u2019s (or generic fig cookies), chopped (about 1\u00bd cups)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup coconut<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cups powdered sugar<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\u00bd Tablespoons fresh orange juice<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Zest of 1 orange<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease a 9&#215;13-inch pan.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl, combine the cake mix, water, and eggs. Mix to combine then add the chopped cookies and coconut.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the mixture into the prepared pan.<\/li>\n<li>Bake 25 to 28 minutes until golden brown on top. Cool on a rack.<\/li>\n<li>To frost, combine the powdered sugar, zest and orange juice. Drizzle the frosting over the cake.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Cereal Energy\u00a0Bar (pareve or dairy)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>24 bars<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>4 cups Cheerios or Rice Chex or Cinnamon Life Cereal (or a mixture)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cup dried cranberries or cherries<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup chopped pecans, toasted<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup chopped dates (optional)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u2153 cup sunflower seeds<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup corn syrup<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup packed brown sugar<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup creamy peanut butter<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 teaspoon vanilla<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Grease a 9&#215;13-inch pan. In large bowl combine the cereal, cranberries or cherries, pecans and sunflower seeds.<\/li>\n<li>In a saucepan combine the corn syrup, brown sugar and peanut butter. Bring to a boil, stir constantly for 1 minute then remove from the heat. Add the vanilla and mix to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the hot mixture over cereal mixture and mix to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Let cool slightly then press the cereal fruit mixture (with your hands) into the greased pan.<\/li>\n<li>Cool for 30 to 45 minute then cut into 24 pieces.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>My files source unknown<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Breakfast\u00a0Cereal Cookies\u00a0(pareve or dairy)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Yields 12 to 16 cookies, depending on size<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1\u00bccups sugar<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup butter or margarine, softened<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup chunky peanut butter<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup water or milk<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 Tablespoon vanilla<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 egg<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\u00bd cups flour<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cup oatmeal (NOT instant)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cup raisins (I like golden)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd teaspoon salt<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd teaspoon baking soda<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>4 cups cinnamon cereal (ie Cinnamon Toast Crunch)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 375\u00b0F.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, combine the sugar, butter, peanut butter, water, vanilla and egg. Mix to combine. Add the oatmeal, flour, raisins, salt, baking soda and cereal. Mix to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Using a \u00bd cup measuring cup, scoop the mixture onto a cookie sheet with parchment paper on it. Only place 6 cookies on each cookie sheet.<\/li>\n<li>On an ungreased large cookie sheet, drop dough by rounded 1\/3 or \u00bd cupfuls 4 inches apart. Flatten the dough slightly.<\/li>\n<li>Bake immediately for a crispy cookie or let the mixture sit in the fridge \u00bd hour and the cereal will soften and the cookies will be softer. Do not over bake. \u00a0Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Let stand 5 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>My file source unknown<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Mashed Potato Pancakes (dairy)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>8 to 10 servings<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>2 to 3 cups mashed potatoes<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup chopped spinach (frozen, defrosted or leftovers)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>3 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup bread crumbs<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Salt and fresh pepper<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>2 to 4 Tablespoons butter or olive oil for frying<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>In a bowl combine all the ingredient except the bread crumbs and butter\/oil. Mix to combine. You can add an egg if you&#8217;d like.<\/li>\n<li>Form the mixture into 2 to 3 inch round balls then roll them in the bread crumbs. Press the balls down slightly to flatten.<\/li>\n<li>Heat the oil or butter in a skillet and fry until golden on one side. Grease a 9&#215;13-inch baking pan.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl combine the noodles with the spaghetti sauce, chopped pepper and olives and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl, combine the cottage cheese and sour cream.<\/li>\n<li>Spread half the spaghetti mixture on the bottom of the pan. Spread the cottage cheese mixture on top of the noodles then spread the remaining noodles on top of the cottage cheese mixture.
