{"id":30245,"date":"2012-11-23T14:02:23","date_gmt":"2012-11-23T14:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/?p=30245"},"modified":"2012-11-23T19:09:29","modified_gmt":"2012-11-23T19:09:29","slug":"some-thoughts-on-the-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/israel\/some-thoughts-on-the-situation\/","title":{"rendered":"Some Thoughts on the Situation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some thoughts on the situation<\/p>\n<p>ON Shabbat night our false sense of tranquility was shattered.<\/p>\n<p>We live in Gush Etzion, surrounded by an Arab population&#8230;they wouldn&#8217;t dare!<br \/>\nThen the siren went sounded..memories of the Gulf War&#8230;and within seconds..BOOM..<br \/>\nA missile lands a few kilometers from our home<br \/>\n(they were aiming for Jerusalem..the unthinkable!)<\/p>\n<p>This afternoon..at 2:15PM&#8230;sirens again..it CAN&#8217;T be happening again!!<br \/>\nDown to the shelter and this time the BOOM was much closer..<br \/>\nwithin a kilometer of Gili&#8217;s..Falling between two Arab villiages.<br \/>\nAgain, aimed at Jerusalem..but off by a few degrees<\/p>\n<p>As I am writing this there is constant shelling on southern towns killing 2<br \/>\nand a missle fell in Rishon Le&#8217;Zion (a Tel Aviv suburb)<\/p>\n<p>The Government is discussing a cease fire..in the opinion of many, a bad decision as the job is far from done. On the other hand, entering Gaza with ground forces is a very complicated issue on many levels and most importantly, the potential loss of many lives of our brave, young Israeli soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>Cease Fire or not..OUR soldiers will be in the Gaza area for a long time to come..and they need to know that we stand behind them.<\/p>\n<p>david erlich<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some thoughts on the situation ON Shabbat night our false sense of tranquility was shattered.
