{"id":23005,"date":"2015-09-18T06:46:09","date_gmt":"2015-09-18T11:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ou.org\/life\/?p=23005"},"modified":"2017-04-06T07:13:34","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T12:13:34","slug":"sangria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/food\/recipes\/sangria\/","title":{"rendered":"Sangria Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was chef at our synagogue&#8217;s fundraiser a couple of weeks ago, and I&#8217;m told I came up with a good and inexpensive Kosher sangria.<\/p>\n<p>The sangria at our synagogue&#8217;s Purim meal, was just OK, with the sangria preparers using standard sangria recipes calling for sugar added to dry wine. For Purim we bought good Kosher wine in the mid to high teen dollar cost range &#8212; and added sugar and juice to it, as recipes call for. And it was just OK &#8211; with few coming back for seconds and a number of \u00bd full glasses of sangria to toss after the event.<\/p>\n<p>I thought I might be able to do better and cheaper using Manischewitz without adding more sugar. I tried a number of different concoctions and had the fundraising committee and others taste test and tell me what they thought. We agreed on the recipe below. So popular was our sangria recipe that attendees poured what remained in the punch bowls back into empty bottles to take home.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Sangria<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>4 servings<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1 cup Manischewitz Concord<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup Manischewitz Blackberry<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/8 cup lemon juice<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/8 cup lime juice<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup orange juice<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup pineapple juice<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd cup cranberry pomegranate juice (100% juice blend)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup gin<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cup pomegranate-flavored seltzer<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">To Add to Punchbowl<\/span>: <\/b><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>\u00bd orange, wedge cut\/seeded<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>2 blackberries, whole<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chill and enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><em>Adjust amounts according to need.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was chef at our synagogue&#8217;s fundraiser a couple of weeks ago, and I&#8217;m told I came up with a good and inexpensive Kosher sangria.
