It reminded me of the old time potatonik. Give it a try and let me know.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1 envelope active dry yeast, or 1 scant Tablespoon<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup warm water, 110-115\u00b0F.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>3 large eggs<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd teaspoon salt, to 1 teaspoon<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc teaspoon white pepper<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/3 cup oil<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>4 lbs.\u00a0potatoes<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 large onion<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc teaspoon cream of tartar<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>2\u00bd cups flour<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Dissolve the yeast in the water and set aside<\/li>\n<li>In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs well. Add the salt, pepper, and oil. Beat together<\/li>\n<li>With a hand grater or a food processor, grate the potatoes along with the onion. Sprinkle with the cream of tartar. Mix.<\/li>\n<li>Add the grated potatoes and onion to the beaten egg mixture. Blend very well. Beat in the flour. Lastly, add the yeast.<\/li>\n<li>Mix vigorously to blend very well. Cover the bowl and set aside in a warm draft-free place for 1 hour.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 400\u00b0F.<\/li>\n<li>Coat a 9&#215;13-inch\u00a0baking pan with oil. Set the pan in the oven to heat.<\/li>\n<li>When hot, pour the potato mixture into the heated oil in the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 30 minutes, then lower\u00a0the heat to 350\u00b0F.<\/li>\n<li>Continue baking for an additional 30 minutes, until a lovely golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the oven, pour off any excess oil and remove the potatonik from the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Set on a rack to permit air to circulate around it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>To serve, cut into thick slices, and rub the crust with cloves of fresh garlic<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I found this recipe which I am going to try myself.
