As part of its new joint venture with Partners in Torah, OU Alumni Connections <\/a>is recruiting Torah knowledgeable volunteers willing to give up to an hour a week of their time to enable alumni of NCSY | Jewish Youth Leadership<\/a> and the OU Israel Free Spirit Birthright <\/a>trips the opportunity to continue connecting with Judaism, with the convenience of a simple phone call. Hundreds of alumni have already expressed interest to continue learning about their Jewish heritage, and to build upon what was gained from participating in OU programs.<\/p>\n

To get involved, interested volunteers are required to register on the Partners in Torah website.\u00a0Once the form is submitted, the organization will match volunteers with eager alumni based upon skill level and interests.<\/p>\n

OU Alumni Connections fosters a continuing relationship with thousands of NCSY and Israel Free Spirit graduates as they take their place in Jewish life.<\/p>\n

Partners in Torah is an organization that offers free one-on-one Torah learning for anyone, regardless of background. They pair individuals who have benefited from years of Jewish education with those who haven\u2019t yet had the opportunity.<\/p>\n

Rabbi Dave Felsenthal, Director of OU Alumni Connections, declared, \u201cOne of the magical aspects of NCSY is the friendships that are created between college-age advisors<\/a> in college and NCSYers from all backgrounds. These bonds, that often last a lifetime, are among the most important friendships in NCSYer\u2019s lives. The NCSY-Partners in Torah program will facilitate creating and continuing thousands of these friendships through the phone and internet for the alumni of Birthright trips, and other NCSY programs who are on college campuses and no longer have direct access to their advisors. I\u2019m very excited that Partners in Torah is offering us the funding to replicate their already proven success in creating long distance friendships by learning Torah over the phone with our alumni. This is a mutually beneficial opportunity to be a positive influence and create a lifetime relationship by volunteering.\u201d<\/p>\n
