{"id":12135,"date":"2008-10-17T01:16:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-17T01:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/production.ou.org\/life\/other\/apple_fluden\/"},"modified":"2017-04-14T05:21:41","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T10:21:41","slug":"apple_fluden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/food\/recipes\/apple_fluden\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple Fluden"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dough<\/span><\/strong><em><strong>:<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>2 cups Flour<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd teaspoon Salt<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>2\/3 cup Pareve margarine<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/3 to \u00bd cup Orange Juice<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Filling<\/span>:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1 cup raisins<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>3 cups apples; peeled, cored and sliced<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup honey<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd teaspoon cinnamon<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 teaspoon grated lemon rind<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/3 cup stale breadcrumbs\u00a0or cake<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/span><strong>:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 400\u00b0F<\/li>\n<li>Mix flour and salt; rub margarine into flour mix until the dough is crumbly like small peas. Stir in orange juice gradually, mixing with wooden spoon, until dough cleans the bowl. Use only as much orange juice as needed. Cover, chill for 1 hour.<\/li>\n<li>Roll out 2\/3 of dough on a floured board into a 10 inch square.<\/li>\n<li>Place into a greased 8-inch pan so the dough comes up around the sides of the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Combine the filling ingredients; spread evenly on the crust.<\/li>\n<li>Roll out the remaining piece of dough into a 9-inch square and put over filling.<\/li>\n<li>Moisten edges around the pan, and press both sides together to seal. Prick top of crust with a fork. (My recipe source always brushes the top with a beaten egg mixed with water and then sprinkled top with a cinnamon-sugar mix.
