{"id":12004,"date":"2008-08-28T20:47:00","date_gmt":"2008-08-28T20:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/production.ou.org\/life\/other\/harv_moussaka\/"},"modified":"2017-04-14T05:16:54","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T10:16:54","slug":"harv_moussaka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/life\/food\/harv_moussaka\/","title":{"rendered":"Moussaka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a recipe I&#8217;ve made numerous times for Mousaka.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>2 medium eggplants<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Oil for frying<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Meat Sauce<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1 medium onion, chopped<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 lb.\u00a0ground beef<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 teaspoon\u00a0crushed Garlic<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd teaspoon Oregano<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cup Tomato Sauce<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut off ends of Eggplant. Do not peel. Slice the long way and sprinkle with salt. Rinse off after a half hour and pat dry. Fry the eggplant slices till golden brown on both sides and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Saute the Onion in the oil then add all the other ingredients Cook till the meat is cooked and set aside.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">White Sauce Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>2 Tablespoons\u00a0margarine<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>2 Tablespoons flour<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 cup\u00a0water<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>2 eggs<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Salt &amp; pepper to taste<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt Margarine &amp; add the Flour. Stir for a few minutes on low heat. Add the water and cook till it thickens.<\/li>\n<li>Beat the eggs and add a drop of the flour mixture to the beaten eggs. Now slowly add the eggs to the flour mixture and stir till smooth. Add the salt &amp; Pepper to taste.<\/li>\n<li>Cool mixture. Now you are ready to assemble the Mousaka.<\/li>\n<li>In a 9&#215;13-inch pan, spread a third of the eggplant. Cover with half the Meat Sauce. Next another third of the Eggplant &amp; the remaining Meat sauce. Next add Half the White sauce, then the remaining Eggplant and top with the remaining White Sauce.<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 350\u00b0F for about 40 Minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Let me know how it came out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a recipe I&#8217;ve made numerous times for Mousaka.
