An idea, the birth of a concept, the<\/p>\n
Birth of a dream, the birth of a world \u2013<\/p>\n
The birth of birth itself.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The greatest miracle \u2013 the miracle of<\/p>\n
Purity.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Who gave us the right, the ability to create<\/p>\n
Such purity, such joy, such innocence, such<\/p>\n
Life \u2013 who gave us the right to give birth?<\/p>\n
From where, this gift to allow for purity,<\/p>\n
In an impure world, a ray of light in a dark<\/p>\n
Dungeon, a slice of heavenly truth in the false bottom<\/p>\n
Of earth?<\/p>\n

A woman
\n<\/i><\/p>\n
When she conceives
\n<\/i><\/p>\n
And gives birth\u2026<\/i><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We give birth \u2013 to children, to purity, to innocence.<\/p>\n
Again and again we give birth:<\/p>\n
We give birth through a good deed, through a warm hug,<\/p>\n
A beautiful smile.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And we are born \u2013 not again, but<\/p>\n
Again and again and again\u2026<\/p>\n
We are too busy giving birth to worry about dying;<\/p>\n
We are too busy being born to be dying.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But it isn\u2019t easy being born; nothing important is,<\/p>\n
And this is the most important of all. The simplest,<\/p>\n
Purest things are the most difficult to accomplish.<\/p>\n
(This may be why purity is a lot less common than, well,<\/p>\n
The common cold \u2013 one cannot catch purity, though it<\/p>\n
Does have a contagious element; one must earn it.)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But, sometimes, in order to earn purity, we need to enter an impure<\/p>\n
World; in order to be born, we must walk the skeletal streets of<\/p>\n
A dead world.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And so we cry.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We don\u2019t cry so that we can breathe;<\/p>\n
We cry because we have to breathe.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We come from heaven, and in heaven we don\u2019t breathe.<\/p>\n
In heaven we are breath.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In heaven we don\u2019t live \u2013<\/p>\n
In heaven we are life.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But in heaven we cannot give life, cannot give birth \u2013<\/p>\n
We have to be born in order to give birth.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The question is:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Does everything I touch become pure?<\/p>\n
Does everything I touch become newborn?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Born pure into an impure world.<\/p>\n
And why shouldn\u2019t a babe cry.<\/p>\n

Because, by being born,<\/p>\n
We can give birth.<\/p>\n
To purity.<\/p>\n
