Let me know if this works for you.<\/p>\n<p>Yields about 20 kichel<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ingredients<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><em>1 large egg<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc teaspoon salt<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bc cup sweet red wine<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u00bd to 1 cup all-purpose unbleached flour<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Vegetable oil or Crisco for deep-frying<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Confectioners&#8217; (powdered) sugar<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Instructions<\/span>:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Beat the egg well<\/li>\n<li>Add salt, wine, and gradually the flour until you have a sticky elastic dough, almost like the consistency of molasses<\/li>\n<li>Flour your hands and break off pieces not much bigger than a marble<\/li>\n<li>Roll out paper-thin on a floured surface<\/li>\n<li>Cut in segments approximately 2 by 4 inches (dough the size of a large marble will make about 3), or cut on the diagonal very thin strips or whatever shape you wish<\/li>\n<li>Pour about 2 inches of oil into a heavy frying pan and heat to 375\u00b0F (190\u00b0C)<\/li>\n<li>Slide the strips carefully into the hot oil<\/li>\n<li>Let cook a few seconds on each side. Soon they will bubble and puff up like hazenblosen<\/li>\n<li>Remove with a spatula and drain on paper towels<\/li>\n<li>When cool sprinkle with confectioners&#8217; sugar. <b>(You will probably want to eliminate the powdered sugar)<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Eat immediately or let sit, covered well, for one day with plastic wrap.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I came upon this recipe for Little Kichel.
