In 2003 Julian Voloj was awarded with the Second Prize at the Washington Post Annual Photography Contest. Voloj was commissioned to portrait &#8220;Jewish New York&#8221; for the book &#8220;A Living Lens&#8221;, a book that Jonathan Safran Foer called &#8220;not only an amazing book, but an invaluable artifact and a work of art.&#8221; His pictures are part of the exhibition &#8220;The Jewish Daily Forward: Embracing an Immigrant Community&#8221; at the Museum of the City of New York. His solo exhibition &#8220;<a title=\"Forgotten Heritage: Uncovering New York's hidden Jewish past\" href=\"http:\/\/www.julianvoloj.com\/projects\/forgotten_heritage\/about.html\">Forgotten Heritage: Uncovering New York&#8217;s hidden Jewish past<\/a>&#8221; was recently on display at the Riverdale Y.
