One of its Haftarot recounts the peaceful, political culmination of that redemption 480 years later with Solomon&#8217;s building of the Temple (see below)<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>. Its other two Haftarot &#8211; Day 1 (below), and Shabbat Chol Hamoed (not read this year) &#8211; relate to His apocalyptic, providential redemption of His people from amidst their enemies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 1- Zechariah 14:1-21<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LLiving in the early Second Temple period, the prophet Zechariah predicted many apocalyptic events, including a horrific plague, the blooming of the land of Israel, and more. His final prophecy recounts God\u2019s victorious battle for Israel against its enemies. After their defeat on a day that is \u201cneither day nor night\u201d, the remaining nations will celebrate Sukkot in a renewed Jerusalem along with the Jewish people, ultimately recognizing God\u2019s rule over the entire world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Haftarah Breakdown <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Verses 1-5: God will fight in an apocalyptic battle of Jerusalem\u2026<\/p>\n<table width=\"738\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"498\">Zechariah 14:3<\/td>\n<td width=\"240\">\u05d6\u05db\u05e8\u05d9\u05d4 \u05d9\u05f4\u05d3:\u05d2<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"498\">The Lord shall go forth and wage war with those nations, like the day he waged war on the day of the battle.<\/td>\n<td width=\"240\">\u05d5\u05b0\u05d9\u05b8\u05e6\u05b8\u05a3\u05d0 \u05d4&#8217; Yet through the fog and cloud, one can reach an understanding of the divine, albeit only partially, in accordance with his capabilities\u2026when the First Temple was dedicated, we read, \u201cThe kohanim brought the Ark of the Lord\u2019s Covenant to its place underneath the wings of the keruvim, in the Shrine of the House, in the Kodesh Ha-kodashim\u2026. When the kohanim came out of the Kodesh, the cloud had filled the House of the Lord, and the kohanim were unable to stand and serve because of the cloud, for the Presence of the Lord filled the House of the Lord\u201d (1 Melakhim 8:6, 11).
