After this chastisement, Hosea goes on to make the case for repentance. Unusually (see \u201cHaftarah Halakhah\u201d, below), the Haftarah continues with words from a second prophet, Joel. According to Abarbanel, Joel envisions the Jewish people repenting in the face of an enemy attacking from the north[1]<\/sup><\/a>. He also foresees God forgiving and resuming a close relationship with them.<\/p>\n
