{"id":48840,"date":"2020-06-29T21:18:25","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T21:18:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/holidays\/?p=48840"},"modified":"2020-06-29T21:18:25","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T21:18:25","slug":"weekly-tefilah-focus-tammuz-special-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ou.org\/holidays\/weekly-tefilah-focus-tammuz-special-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Tefilah Focus Tammuz Special &#8211; part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are approaching the Three Weeks, where we turn our focus to mourning the loss of the <em>Beis HaMikdash<\/em>.\u00a0 The deeper aspects of what we mourn are the following:<\/p>\n<p>A.\u00a0 We mourn for Hashem: the loss of Hashem\u2019s Honor in the world.\u00a0 Tragically, not only does most of the world not recognize Hashem, but the vast majority of His children don\u2019t recognize Him either.\u00a0 Even amongst those who do recognize Him \u2013 and are even Torah observant \u2013 many do not have the close, loving relationship with Him that Hashem desires.<\/p>\n<p>B.\u00a0 We mourn for ourselves.\u00a0 We mourn over the loss of the feeling of Hashem\u2019s Presence, closeness to Him, and awe and love for Him that we merited when His\u00a0<em>Sh\u2019chinah<\/em>\u00a0rested in the\u00a0<em>Beis HaMikdash<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>During these weeks especially, we should focus more mind and heart on the areas of <em>tefilah<\/em>\u00a0that are directly related to our desire to return Hashem\u2019s Honor and restore our close, loving relationship.\u00a0 We present here some suggested possibilities:<\/p>\n<p>A.\u00a0 Throughout the\u00a0<em>P\u2019sukei D\u2019Zimrah<\/em>, there are multiple\u00a0<em>p\u2019sukim<\/em>\u00a0that speak about the time when Hashem\u2019s Honor will be restored.\u00a0 Some of the more obvious examples are in\u00a0<em>Hodu<\/em>\u00a0and at the end of\u00a0<em>Az Yashir<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>B.\u00a0 Within\u00a0<em>Shemoneh Esrei<\/em>, the\u00a0<em>brachos<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>V\u2019liYerushalayim<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Es Tzemach<\/em>,\u00a0<em>R\u2019tzei<\/em>, and the\u00a0<em>Y\u2019hi Ratzon<\/em>\u00a0at the very end of\u00a0<em>Shemoneh Esrei<\/em><\/p>\n<p>C.\u00a0 The long\u00a0<em>Tachanun<\/em>\u00a0on Mondays and Thursdays<\/p>\n<p>D.\u00a0\u00a0<em>V\u2019Al Kein N\u2019kaveh<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a0<em>Aleinu<\/em><\/p>\n<p>E.\u00a0 A good part of\u00a0<em>Birkas HaMazon<\/em>, including the second and third\u00a0<em>brachos<\/em>, as well as the\u00a0<em>HaRachamans<\/em><\/p>\n<p>F.\u00a0 The\u00a0<em>brachah<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Al HaMichyah<\/em><\/p>\n<p>G.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Al Naharos Bavel<\/em>\u00a0(prior to\u00a0<em>Birkas HaMazon<\/em>), on weekdays when\u00a0<em>Tachanun<\/em>\u00a0is said<\/p>\n<p>This is only a partial list, to open our minds and hearts to be more aware and more feeling, especially in these upcoming weeks, of our longing to return Hashem\u2019s Honor to the entire world and to restore our loving relationship with our Father to what it once was.\u00a0 May it be His will that this comes about speedily in our days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are approaching the Three Weeks, where we turn our focus to mourning the loss of the Beis HaMikdash.\u00a0 The deeper aspects of what we mourn are the following: A.\u00a0 We mourn for Hashem: the loss of Hashem\u2019s Honor in the world.\u00a0 Tragically, not only does most of the world not recognize Hashem, but the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":133662,"featured_media":37728,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[359],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-48840","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-three-weeks"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.9 -
