Chanukah was instituted for Hallel and Hoda’ah. Hoda’ah refers to Al HaNisim. Why does the Gemara focus on the miracle of the oil whereas Al HaNisim omits it completely? How do these two miracles work together to accomplish one goal?<\/p>\n

Why was the miracle of the oil a big deal – there were ten miracles that occured daily in the Beit HaMikdash, one of which was that the \u05e0\u05e8 \u05de\u05e2\u05e8\u05d1\u05d9 never extinguished!<\/p>\n

Pnei Yehoshua: God only performs miracles when absolutely necessary, there was plenty of impure oil which they could have used based on \u05d8\u05d5\u05de\u05d0\u05d4 \u05d4\u05d5\u05ea\u05e8\u05d4<\/em> \u05d1\u05e6\u05d9\u05d1\u05d5\u05e8, it’s not even a \u05d1\u05d3\u05d9\u05e2\u05d1\u05d3!<\/p>\n
