Sara\u2019s family makes this recipe year after year on Purim and it consistently yields fantastic results.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bd cup margarine<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>2\u00bd cups flour (part whole wheat flour may be used)<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Cream together margarine, sugar, and vanilla. Stir in eggs.<\/li>\n<li>Blend in flour, baking powder, and salt.<\/li>\n<li>Divide dough in half and place in a plastic bag. Refrigerate for a few hours.<\/li>\n<li>When ready to bake, roll each half of dough to \u215b-inch thickness.<\/li>\n<li>With a 3-inch cookie cutter, or the rim of a water glass, cut out circles of dough. Alternatively, cut into 2\u00bd inch squares.<\/li>\n<li>Place a teaspoonful of filling in center of each circle.<\/li>\n<li>Pinch the edges tightly together, forming a triangle. Leave a little of the filling showing in the center.<\/li>\n<li>Place on a greased baking sheet and bake in a preheated 350\u00b0F oven for 15\u201320 minutes until golden brown.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Yield: about 2 dozen Hamantaschen.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>POPPY SEED FILLING<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup ground poppy seeds<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup honey<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup raisins<\/li>\n<li>juice of \u00bd a lemon<\/li>\n<li>1 Tablespoon oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine all ingredients and spoon onto dough circles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>DATE FILLING<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bc cup margarine or oil<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cups chopped dates<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc teaspoon ginger<\/li>\n<li>Grated rind of 1 lemon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt margarine over a low flame (or heat oil) and stir in sugar and dates.<\/li>\n<li>Simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat. Add cinnamon, ginger, and grated lemon rind and mix well.
