DESCRIPTION:“Finding Your Calm: Yoga\, Mindfulness\, and the Anxious Nervous System” \nPlease Note: This session is scheduled on a Wednesday instead of our usual Tuesday session \nThis session introduces mindfulness and chair yoga as accessible\, relaxation-focused practices for older adults. Using gentle seated movement\, breathwork\, and grounding techniques\, participants will learn tools to calm the nervous system without requiring floor work or prior yoga experience. The session offers an evidence- based approach to relaxation that honors the layered life experiences many older adults carry. Attendees will leave with simple\, adaptable practices for reducing stress and anxiety in daily life. \nPresented by Dr. Alyssa Reiner \nDr. Alyssa Reiner\, DSW\, MPA\, MSW\, LCSW\, RYT-200\, is the Director of Social Work and Programming at Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey. A licensed clinical social worker and certified yoga instructor\, she integrates mindfulness-based practices into her clinical work. Her doctoral research explored the intersection of geriatric trauma and polyvagal theory in children of Holocaust survivors.
