There\u2019s a very talented teen minyan leader at my shul. He\u2019s primary skill is getting \u201cbuy in\u201d for the events that he runs. I had a conversation with him about his technique. He put if very simply \u2013 \u201cYou gotta mun people.\u201d What does that mean? \u201cMun\u201d is a Yiddish word which probably derives from the Hebrew \u201cMinuy\u201d \u2013 \u201cto appoint\u201d or \u201cto summon.\u201d Stated very simply, you want buy in for your programs, you want key leaders to show up you have to\u00a0mun<\/i>\u00a0them. How do you do that? Call them up. Invite them personally. Don\u2019t just rely on the generic email. Perhaps send them a personal text before Shabbos with the poster of your event and write \u201cHi Arnold, I really hope you can come. You add so much.\u201d People will love that personal touch.<\/p>\n
