Particular moments and days are better equipped to enable certain energies emerge. Best practice would then dictate that a growing shul should pay attention to the cadence and peaks of the Jewish Year.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" align=\"justify\">This month is Elul. Our tradition has mined the Hebrew word\u00a0<span dir=\"RTL\">\u05d0-\u05dc-\u05d5-\u05dc<\/span>\u00a0for acronyms that bear significance at this juncture. I\u2019d like to share with you \u2013 5 acronyms from the word\u00a0<span dir=\"RTL\">\u05d0\u05dc\u05d5\u05dc<\/span>\u00a0that carry a deep message for our shul\u2019s development.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" align=\"justify\">Acronym\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ou.zendesk.com\/agent\/tickets\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ticket\">#1<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<b><span dir=\"RTL\">\u05d0<\/span><\/b><span dir=\"RTL\">\u05e0\u05d9\u00a0<b>\u05dc<\/b>\u05d3\u05d5\u05d3\u05d9<b>\u00a0\u05d5<\/b>\u05d3\u05d5\u05d3\u05d9\u00a0<b>\u05dc\u05d9<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 I am to My beloved and My beloved is to Me.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" align=\"justify\">This is a passage from Shir HaShirim and the message is that Judaism represents a reciprocal love affair between G-d and His people. You want an addictive message to share in your synagogue pews? G-d loves you! How many times do we speak like this? Not often. But it\u2019s worth it. Nothing is more empowering than knowing that we are loved by the One above. There is no greater motivator than love and certainly no greater motivator than to know we have Divine love. It\u2019s so romantic and so powerful.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" align=\"justify\">Acronym\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ou.zendesk.com\/agent\/tickets\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ticket\">#2<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<b><span dir=\"RTL\">\u05d0<\/span><\/b><span dir=\"RTL\">\u05e0\u05d4\u00a0<b>\u05dc<\/b>\u05d9\u05d3\u05d5\u00a0<b>\u05d5<\/b>\u05e9\u05de\u05ea\u05d9\u00a0<b>\u05dc<\/b>\u05da<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 This verse is in the context of\u00a0<i>arei miklat<\/i>\u00a0\u2013 the city of refuge. When a person shall kill by accident, he is given a place to run to; a safe haven. Security and safety. At a later point we are going to have to share best practices on shul security. But meanwhile, the simple knowledge that our congregants need to feel safe \u2013 is essential! This is especially true when it comes to our children.
