Friday, November 11, 2016 is Veterans Day, a day to honor and show appreciation for members of the U.S. Armed Forces, who risk their lives to ensure our country’s safety and the freedom of all its citizens.<\/p>\n

The OU\u2019s Department of Synagogue Services encourages you to honor the veterans and active military in your synagogue. Simple ideas would be to invite\u00a0veterans, military chaplain or active servicemen to speak in your synagogue or say a prayer for the military. For those synagogues located near military bases, organizing a tour for synagogue members is a great way to educate your community. You may ask synagogue members who were veterans to supply pictures from their years in service and post them on Shabbat during a Kiddush to honor them. You may also add to your weekly announcements, a list of veterans in your congregation. Veterans may speak during your youth groups during Shabbat to teach our youth about service to our country.<\/p>\n
