About this community

Livingston, NJ is home to two Modern Orthodox synagogues, Suburban Torah and Etz Chaim, which together comprise a vibrant and diverse community with an enduring commitment to Torah, Mitzvot and the State of Israel.  It is a warm and inclusive community which values and respects every individual, wherever they might be on their Jewish journey.  It is a tight-knit community that strives to serve God with joy and work together to strengthen the Jewish people!

Livingston is fortunate to have a state-of-the-art mikvah, multiple kosher restaurants and amenities, and a close proximity to New York City (20 miles), with train and bus transportation available.   Nestled in Essex County, the community is centrally located in Northern New Jersey, also giving it access to wide range of business and commercial centers throughout the area.

The community understands the economic costs of moving and is dedicated to easing the financial burdens that you may face.  In addition to Suburban Torah and Etz Chaim’s New Member Incentive Programs listed below, the shuls community includes local realtors who are dedicated to helping first-time homeowners find affordable homes comparable to other New Jersey and New York communities.  In addition, the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy, one of the community’s local Yeshiva day schools, is offering up to $25,000 over five years in tuition incentives to new families, as well as innovative middle income affordability and financial aid packages.
