What’s New on OU Torah for 5779?

September 13, 2018

Welcome to 5779! As regular followers of OU Torah are no doubt aware, we constantly add new features to provide more opportunities to study different areas of Torah in an increasing number of ways. Here are some new series that may be of interest in the new year!

Ohr Olam Mishnah Berurah by Rabbi Doniel Yehudah Neustadt

Ohr Olam Mishnah Berurah is a new translation of the Mishnah Berurah, designed to be easily accessible to the contemporary, English-speaking Jews. One of its many features is material based on Rabbi Neustadt’s popular Halachah Discussion series. Current entries in this series on OU Torah (as of this writing) discuss the ramifications of Jews and non-Jews co-owning a business on Shabbos and owning shares in a corporation that operates on Shabbos, but there’s plenty more to come!

Beyond the Familiar: Rethinking the Messages of Sefer Bereshit by Rabbi Shmuel Goldin

Rabbi Goldin is no stranger to long-time followers on OU Torah, where he has written about the weekly parsha, or of OU Press, publishers of his series Unlocking the Torah Text! We all learned the Bible stories in Bereishis as children but has our understanding of them grown along with us? Join Rabbi Goldin as he takes us Beyond the Familiar!

Take Ten for Torah by Rabbi Shmuel Ismach

Rabbi Shmuel Ismach, Associate Rabbi at the Young Israel of Great Neck, is a long-time educator, also serving as a rebbe and mashgiach at the North Shore Hebrew Academy. He is also the presenter of the long-running “Take Ten for Torah” podcast, addressing different topics daily. (As Rabbi Ismach says, “Spend one 1/100th of your day as meaningfully as you can!”) OU Torah is proud to be able to share this series!

Of course that’s not all! There’s some big news coming up about OU Torah’s weekly Shavua Tov email! (We’ll tell you all about that in our next blog post but feel free to sign up in anticipation!)
